Labor Day Lazy Weekend

The holiday weekend sort of snuck up on us so we didn't do much...which was nice. Headed down to Denver on Saturday for Taste of Colorado. We all stuffed ourselves with a variety of different foods. Avery really liked the naan. Then again, there isn't much she doesn't like these days.

On Monday we set out to hike Bear Peak. It's my favorite hike in Boulder but it's not an easy one. We got about 3/4 of the way to the top and then Miss Avery had a minor melt down. I don't blame her. She'd been in the backpack for a few hours (minus the diaper changes!) , missed her morning nap and it was her lunch time. We decided to abort, have some lunch and head back down. About half way down some hikers heading up told us they'd seen a bear a little ways back. Let's just say that was the fastest we've ever hiked down and the most I've ever sung Itsy Bitsy Spider. (The singing was for Avery, her favorite song and I sang it loudly to hopefully scare the bear away!)

8/16 Family Visit

Cousin Frankie, Aunt Suzy and Uncle Eddie flew out to visit. Avery and Frankie had lots of fun hanging out/taking each other down. :) Avery loves her new water bottle!

More Birthday Fun...

Avery's first birthday celebration continued into the weekend. Aunt Sara and cousin Anna flew in for the festivities. All in all it was a great weekend and yummy BBQ!

Happy Birthday Avery! Hard to believe she's one already. We started the day off going to the park and then running some errands. She loves the balloon from Gran-Mary. Of course no birthday would be complete without chocolate. Just like mom...she loves sugar!

Adventures in Camping...Part 2

We decided to skip town to escape the near 100 degree temps and attempt another night of camping. This time it was a success! (see May 27th posting) Avery was a trooper and slept through the night, most of it anyway. Four couples, 5 dogs and two babies had a great weekend...

Am I at the top yet? Avery loved climbing around on the rocks. Maybe she'll be a rock climber??
