Weekend in the Windy City

Thank you to all the friends and family who met us in Chicago this past weekend. (Bumpa, Miss Hudie, Grandma B, Aunt Sara, Cousin Anna, Jeff, Uncle Eddie, Aunt Suzy and Devin) Chris successfully finished the Chicago marathon!! Also, many thanks to the friends and family who called me all day on Sunday checking up on Chris. I was a little worried that my phone was going to die but we ended up having an incredible weekend...

Labor Day Lazy Weekend

The holiday weekend sort of snuck up on us so we didn't do much...which was nice. Headed down to Denver on Saturday for Taste of Colorado. We all stuffed ourselves with a variety of different foods. Avery really liked the naan. Then again, there isn't much she doesn't like these days.

On Monday we set out to hike Bear Peak. It's my favorite hike in Boulder but it's not an easy one. We got about 3/4 of the way to the top and then Miss Avery had a minor melt down. I don't blame her. She'd been in the backpack for a few hours (minus the diaper changes!) , missed her morning nap and it was her lunch time. We decided to abort, have some lunch and head back down. About half way down some hikers heading up told us they'd seen a bear a little ways back. Let's just say that was the fastest we've ever hiked down and the most I've ever sung Itsy Bitsy Spider. (The singing was for Avery, her favorite song and I sang it loudly to hopefully scare the bear away!)

Thanks Aunt Sara! Avery loves playing with the letters and we now have them all over the house!

8/16 Family Visit

Cousin Frankie, Aunt Suzy and Uncle Eddie flew out to visit. Avery and Frankie had lots of fun hanging out/taking each other down. :) Avery loves her new water bottle!

More Birthday Fun...

Avery's first birthday celebration continued into the weekend. Aunt Sara and cousin Anna flew in for the festivities. All in all it was a great weekend and yummy BBQ!
